FROM THE DIRECTOR’S DESK - WELLNESS & REHABILITATION SERVICES

Further to our earlier communication please note the following:

We are aware that transition from secondary school to the University and from home to a new environment leads to a culture shock on your part. For smooth transition please observe the following:

1.Read the student handbook and know the various support systems and where they are found. These include:

  • Directorate of student affairs      * Gender Equity & Empowerment
  • Accommodation                           * Security Services
  •  Chaplaincies
  •  Health Services

2.Be cautious - not quick to trust – to avoid being taken advantage of by strangers you hardly know

  • Do not walk alone at night and keep safe by not keeping late hours outside your residence
  • Seek the services of the departmental academic adviser early if in doubt of the programme you have been admitted to
  • Ensure that you adhere to fees payment and unit registration deadlines
  • Attend all lectures and other requirements of your course like CATs and Assignments
  • Be informed that examination irregularities lead to discontinuation
  • Be informed that if found smoking, in possession or trading in cannabis sativa (Bhang) will lead to disciplinary action
  • Be very careful about the relationships you form and guard against unplanned pregnancies, exploitation and manipulation.
