
The directorate of Wellness and Rehabilitation Services has continued to execute its mandate which entails ensuring your wellness is maintained by providing services that promote it as well as those that help you navigate through any challenge that could be detrimental to your mental health.
Sensitization of Staff on Wellness Issues
In line with the mandate, the directorate was able to sensitize 136 members of staff in the month of February 2023. This brings the total number of members of staff sensitized in wellness issues in the current financial year to 425.
Sensitization programme is implemented every quarter and the next session will be offered in the month of May 2023 when members of staff will be invited to express their interest in participating. Sensitization covers the following areas:
1. Mental illness-causes and interventions
2. Personal financial literacy and responsibility
3. HIV Prevention- effects of HIV on individual ,family and workplace
4. Workplace related stressors
5. Current trends in alcohol and drug abuse
6. Sensitization on Employee Assistance program
Students Sensitization
The directorate also engages in sensitization of students through various forums. In this quarter sensitization was done on 13th February 2023 which was the International Condom day and 14th February where matters to do with HIV/AIDS prevention were promoted. More sensitization will continue between 22nd February and 3rd March 2023. This will cover Mental Health and Alcohol & Drug Abuse Prevention.
Counseling and Psychosocial Support
These services continue to be offered on a daily basis at the directorate offices situated at BSSC Room 143. Both students and staff are encouraged to visit our offices for the uptake of the services.
